Info on TFP Shoots

What is TFP?

TFP stands for “trade for photos” – or, as it used to mean, “time for print." In this kind of photoshoot arrangement, neither the Photographer nor the Model is paid for their services. Instead, they both receive benefit by having some degree of access to the finished photos from the session.

What Are the Terms of a TFP Shoot?

As professionals who are doing work for trade, it is important that each person involved knows their specific rights and limitations. Please take the time to read and understand the agreement being made.

Photographer

Finished photos from the session will be used by Photographer exclusively for marketing photography services and to showcase photography work. They may appear on the Photographer's social media accounts, website, digital advertising, and printed marketing materials. They may also be submitted to print or digital magazines for unpaid print publication in the context of featuring the Photographer. Photographer will never sell them to stock photography sites or grant any usage not specified here without first obtaining prior permission from the Model.

Model

The Model is free to use all photos from the TFP session in digital form for any online purpose (as long as Photographer and HMU credit are always given — see "Give Credit" below for details). The Model may not create any prints or physical copies of the photos – all printing must be ordered through the TFP shoot's PixieSet gallery. Custom items such as albums, calendars, etc. should be ordered through the Photographer.

* For print publication, Model may request that Photographer submits print-resolution files for submission to magazines for paid or unpaid print publication. It is the Model's responsibility to ensure that the Photographer is properly credited in these publications.

Hair & Makeup Artist Use

If a Hair & Makeup Artist is utilized for the TFP session, the HMUA may use any of the photos from the session for digital marketing purposes.

*Note: Hair & Makeup Artists are usually paid for work on a TFP shoot. This expense is incurred by the Model. However, it may also be split between Model and Photographer if the Photographer has requested a specific artistic theme for the shoot.

Give Credit

The Photographer's, Model's, and HMUA's business pages should ALWAYS be tagged when any photo from the shoot is shared on social media.

Note: An exception is granted for paid sites such as OnlyFans – no credit needs to be given for posts on those sites.

No Filters, No Photoshop!

The Photographer retains copyright on the finished works, and they are not to be manipulated (modified, filtered, colorized, posterized, grayscaled, manipulated, etc.) in any way. While social media platforms give filter options when posting photos, they are not allowed to be used. All photos must be posted as created by the Photographer.

Note: The only exception to this rule is in regards to cropping. Because some social media platforms limit posting of images with certain aspect ratios, cropping is allowed in that circumstance.

Printing

The Photographer retains all rights to printing, and the photos may only be printed by ordering through the PixieSet gallery from the TFP shoot, which uses only the best professional-quality labs. Custom requests for albums, calendars, and other items should be ordered through the Photographer.

Deposit

Due to the high rate of cancellations for free TFP shoots, Photographer does require a $50 booking deposit to secure your date if Photographer and Model have not shot together before. This deposit is fully refunded when Model arrives for the session. However, the deposit is NON-refundable if Model cancels appointment less than one week in advance or is a no-show. Booking deposits can be paid via PayPal, cash, or credit card. If using PayPal, payment should be sent to rondaniel@gmail.com.
