Boudoir is about loving yourself and your body the way it is right now. So NO, you don’t need to change yourself for your shoot. I do, however, suggest working on being as limber as possible, and practice arching your back and pointing your toes.
For all pricing- and cost-related questions, please see the pricing page.
No. An onsite professional hair and makeup artist (HMUA) is included as part of The Experience. Your hair and makeup will be done to your liking, in the manner that will be most complimentary with the camera and light. Our Dawn Yelle luxury hair and makeup artist will spend the first hour with you before your shoot begins.
Nearly all of my shoots take place at my home studio in NE Fort Wayne. It's a 17'x24' room with 15' valuted ceilings, and windows that give us a 72 square foot wall of gorgeous natural light. Of course, your comfort is our primary concern, so if you prefer instead, a luxury hotel or Air BNB can be secured for an additional cost. Alternatively, if you have a large bedroom at home (preferably with great natural light) and can provide a peaceful, uninterrupted environment for 3-4 hours, you can also choose to host the shoot yourself.
I'm going to be adding much more detailed answers to this very soon - it'll be under the "Preparation" link in the menu. But in the meantime, here is the condensed version:
• Avoid bronzers (fake tan), tanning, tan lines, and sunburn
• Wax (5 days before, to avoid redness and bumps)
• Try on all your new lingerie before your shoot, and make sure to remove all tags.
• Moisturize
• Shower
The session fee is non-refundable if the session is canceled. One reschedule is allowed if arranged at least one week in advance.
For the comfort of both parties – and to prevent distraction – boudoir photoshoots are normally closed sets to all but the model and photographer. If you absolutely must bring someone, there are three mandatory criteria:
• must be female
• must be an encourager (NO faultfinders or negative types)
• must not be a director or "offer suggestions"
Your boudoir photoshoot will be performed with the utmost professionalism. Your photographer will be conversational, light, and fun. You will be put at ease and in no way made to feel objectified. If at any time you are not comfortable with a pose, the level of a reveal, or even the way something is said, simply let your photographer know. At all times, you will feel Heard and Empowered. For help with nervousness or anxiety leading up to your shoot, please see this page.
While we do not specialize in couples photography, you may opt to have a male or female partner in some or all of your photos. However, adding a partner does add cost and time to your session. (For the cost, see our pricing page.)
You do not need to worry about a thing – your photographer will guide you every step of the way. After this experience, you will almost certainly find yourself more comfortable in front of a camera and looking better when posing for photographs.
Your comfort is of primary importance. While much boudoir photography involves some level of nudity, it is certainly not required. You are always encouraged to consider stretching your boundaries to boost your confidence and personal empowerment, but you will NEVER be pressured to reveal more than you are comfortable with.
Depending on clothing changes, setups, and the level of cooperation we get from natural light and all the photo equipment, your shoot may last anywhere from 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 hours. If you have a hard stop time, please make that known prior to your session. (Note: Couples shoots tend to take about an hour longer.)
Your photographer will select the best images from your session and do post-production editing on them. You will then be given access to a private online gallery, viewable only by you. Turnaround time is usually 5-10 business days, depending on the current scheduling and workload.
You ARE going to like your photos! If there are technical issues, they will be made known to you during the shoot, so there should be no surprises there. And the editing work will reveal the best version of you. So we are going to encourage you to fully embrace yourself and celebrate exactly who you are today, and resist the urge to judge the woman in your photos.
